Clan Desdin Image
Clan Desdin is a 16 year old youth mentoring program which brings together children and teens from throughout the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas, teaching them early American and early Scottish history.

Clan Desdin portrays a historical reenactment of the flight of the Scots, following the Battle of Culloden in 1746, to the colonies between 1746 and the 1840's. We represent several Scottish Clans, which have come together for mutual survival in the new world.

Clan Desdin has participated in more than 160 reenactments and cultural events since 1995, throughout 5 states and Ontario Canada. These have included the Battle of Georgian Bay, Penetanguishene, Ontario, the Cincinnati Celtic Festival, the Columbus Indiana Highland Games, the Ohio Scottish Games and the Dayton Celtic Festival.

24th annual Salt Festival

The weekend of October 16-19 is the 24th annual Salt Festival at Big Bone Lick State Park. The KY schools will be in session and the park is hoping for about 1,200 children on Friday. We’ll be helping with children’s games and the school lessons on Friday. (The Liard has graciously agreed to be the school master)

We’ll be in the pioneer encampment.  We’re planning to set-up the canvas on Sunday October 11th at noon.  See you there!
